Security and Resilience Network

London First’s Security and Resilience Network brings together over 2000 leading figures
together including the heads of London’s policing and security community, representatives of
global business, academia and leaders in the areas of business continuity, loss prevention,
physical security, information security, business resilience and geo-political risk, with
academia and representatives from London’s police forces and security agencies. It
provides a unique platform to address the threats and challenges of the ever changing
security environment. Members are given the opportunity to engage in workshops and
participate in proactive discussions with industry stakeholders in both the private and
public sectors. Further opportunities for participation are available through our Police
Business Advisory Group, a bi-annual meeting with London’s police and business
leaders, our Leadership Exchange Programme, a mentoring initiative with the
Metropolitan Police Service, roundtable discussions, as well as through a regular
programme of high level briefings.

Information Sharing, Guidance and Best Practice

In addition to our core network activities, benefits of membership include police message
alerts and regular newsletters. In the run up to and during the recent G20 Summit in London
members received daily alerts with advice and guidance. Network members also contribute
to the development of best practice guidance and take part in practical workshops, run by
the experts.

London First participates in a number of high level policing and security forums, sharing key
information with our members. Our Chief Executive, Baroness Jo Valentine, represents
London business on the London Counter Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST) Board, chaired by
Assistant Commissioner John Yates. We are also active in the London Resilience Business
Panel, the Civil Contingencies Advisory Group and the Sister Banks group. Additionally, we
host a biannual roundtable, known as the Police Business Advisory Group, with the

Commissioner of the City of London Police and Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan

Research

London First conducts direct research into business crime and security issues. Over the
past year we have worked alongside local businesses, the City of London Police and
Metropolitan Police Service, to examine ways to deliver an effective policing model for
business environments. We will publish our findings in early 2010 and present our
recommendations to key policing decision-makers including Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of
Constabulary, ACPO and the National Policing Improvement Agency.

Leadership Exchange Programme

The Leadership Exchange Programme is London First’s innovative mentoring programme
which matches senior police and business leaders to share leadership and management
expertise. These pairings bring a fresh perspective to the working practices of both parties,
and can lead to creative, collaborative problem-solving. The scheme is supported by a new
series of leadership lectures, featuring inspirational speakers.
