Sushruta was an ancient Indian physician known as the "Father of Surgery". He is credited with performing complex surgical procedures and documenting anatomical investigations and surgical treatments in his text Sushruta Samhita. This important ancient medical text contained descriptions of over 300 surgical procedures and 120 surgical instruments and is considered one of the earliest known surgical texts.
