1. The U.S. Faces Daunting Challenges
From the economy and foreign policy to health care and education, the United States faces serious
challenges that threaten our well-being and standing in the world. We must take urgent action.
Too often we lack the capacity to hold conversations that result in real
solutions. Political leaders struggle to move beyond partisan stalemate.
Citizens lack an adequate platform to feel heard and make a difference.
Deep divisions impede our progress.
This is why Convergence is so needed.
Convergence Is Making a Difference
Convergence has a proven method to enhance civil discourse and help
solve our nation’s biggest challenges. We catalyze dialogue among
conflicting and essential stakeholders to help them forge shared solutions
and unlikely alliances for action.
People with thoughtful ideas from across the social and political spectrum
need to be heard and contribute to the best possible solutions.
With your help, Convergence can make this happen.
Who We Are
“Given the challenges that we face
and the overall frustration
with the current state of politics,
Convergence may be coming along
at just the right juncture where
history and opportunity merge
for a new level of
national problem solving.”
The Honorable Harris Wofford (D-PA),
former U.S. Senator
~
“Convergence is for serious,
public-spirited people to openly
dialogue respectfully and inspire
trust without surrendering
one’s passions and beliefs.”
Kelly Johnston,
VP of Government Affairs,
Campbell Soup Company
Our bi-partisan Leadership Council includes former Cabinet officials,
members of Congress, governors, and distinguished individuals from the
fields of law, business, mediation, advocacy, academia, religion, philanthropy and politics.
Our diverse and dedicated staff has deep experience in politics, policy, business and communications. We
have successfully completed consensus-building projects on such diverse issues as health care coverage and
U.S.-Muslim relations.
We Take Initiative to Get Breakthrough Results
Convergence tackles big issues in order to make the biggest difference.
Our process is simple in concept and powerful in execution. We:
• Identify pressing issues where division impedes progress
• Determine who needs to talk with whom to get results
• Foster trust and understanding
• Engage participants to find agreement, and
• Build unlikely alliances for action
Currently we have projects on Nutrition and Wellness, U.S.-Pakistan
Relations, and K-12 Education. Our methodology can be applied to any
major issue facing the country where problem-solving is hindered by a
failure to communicate across differences: the deficit, job creation, health
costs, immigration, gun violence, energy policy and others.
Join Convergence
“Convergence is a catalyst that
can enable the hard work and
technical skills of others to result
in success rather than frustration
and missed opportunities.”
Stuart Butler,
Distinguished Fellow and Director,
Center for Policy Innovation,
The Heritage Foundation
~
“Convergence is a good idea
at the right time.”
Anita Dunn,
former White House
Communications Director
