Greetings! I live in Chapel Hill, N.C. with my wife Donna, two cats, and fond memories of our
beloved basset hound of 16 years. We have two sons: one resides here in Chapel Hill with his
wife, two sons, and a daughter; and the other son resides in Charlotte with his wife and two
daughters.

Donna and I are both graduates of UNC-CH and
life-long residents of Chapel Hill. We remain avid
UNC sports fans and we are attempting to ensure
that our grandchildren are nutured in the Tar Heel
tradition! Although our home is in Chapel Hill, we
enjoy spending as much time as possible at the
                                             North Carolina coast.

I retired as Telecommunications Director at UNC-
CH in 2006 having 30+ years of professional
                                           experience organizing and directing a
                                           telecommunications service organization, managing
a variety of interesting projects, and implementing
new telecommunications technologies. While at UNC I had the privilege of representing the
University in a number of professional organizations including serving at various times as
president, executive vice-president, and board member for the Association of College and
University Telecommunications Administrators - an international professional organization
serving membership in the United States and Canada. I was also employed for a time with the
former General Telephone of the S.E. located in Durham, N.C. I am a U.S. Navy veteran with
multiple deployments to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and South China Seas.

I recently completed a Master’s Degree in Project Management (MPM) as a means of
formalizing my professional skills and knowledge of project management. I’ve led a variety of
projects involving software procurement and implementation, internal business process design,
new technology deployment, program development, strategic planning, and infrastructure
planning and implementation while working at UNC. I also hold a PMP certification awarded by
the Project Management Institute (PMI). I am seeking new professional opportunities that will
leverage my experience in telecommunications and project management.

One of my most enjoyable experiences at UNC was
weekly faculty/staff basketball games. However,
having recently studied principles of teamwork and
conflict, I am convinced that the principles identified
in The Five Dysfunctions of a Team could have well
applied to our teams!

I have continued to find other venues to remain
involved in sports. Following my retirement from
UNC, I earned a certification from the USA Track

and Field Association and began officiating UNC indoor and outdoor track meets (primarily in
the shot put and throwing events). I recently completed my USATF Association re-certification
for the new Olympiad and continue officiating collegiate indoor and outdoor track meets. I am
also certified by the NSHSAA as a high school baseball umpire and I officiate both baseball and
basketball games for our local parks and recreation department.

My other pastimes include baby-sitting opportunities, golf, relaxing at the North Carolina coast,
and other outdoor activities.
