 Use of computer in business begins in the
19th century.
 Introduced by Charles Babbage also
known as “father of computing”.
 Created the first known mechanical device used to
  compute numbers.
 The first commercial use of a computer was by the United
  States government in 1890.This computer was capable of
  adding and sorting and so was particularly useful in
  processing all of the information obtained by the census.
 With the advent and widespread use of the Internet in
  the late 1990s, business benefited from an explosion of
  efficiency gains including the ability to coordinate design,
  manufacturing, distribution, and sales.
 As higher bandwidths became available, teleconferencing
  and commuting were both affordable and effective,
  allowing for outsourcing and other remote-work features
  of 21st century business.
The business process is under the IT revolution,
which is transforming the way we do the business.
The way our basic business operations like
decision making, customer services, operations,
marketing strategies, financial management,
Human Resources management, etc. are done are
being reformed with the use of computers. Most
of our current day business operations are
dependent on computers either partially or
entirely.
 Office Automation
It is defined as using computer and communication
technology to help people better use and manage
information . Office Automation technology includes all
types of computers, telephones , electronic mail and office
machines that use microprocessors or other high-
technology components.
Transaction processing:
Most business activity involves Transactions activities
with suppliers, employees , or customers. Computer
can make these transactions possible

Home Based "Workers:
Now that it's so easy to connect a computer at home,
more and more people are working at home . These
telecommuters often work one or more days without
the traditional commute. The same ability to
communication so easily makes home-based
businesses easier to start and operate. it also provides
the alternative way to talk the distant relatives at the
cheapest rate with the help of Internet telephony
 Desktop Publishing:
  Producing finished business literature is one of the uses of
  computers in business. Using desktop publishing programs, or even
  sophisticated word processing programs, people can create sales
  letter, price lists, newsletters, and even book-length manuals.

 Financial Analysis:
  Financial Analysis is performed throughout the company, from top
management on down . People can analyze investments, sales,
expenses, markets and other aspects of the business using both
numbers and graphs.
     The widespread acceptance of Internet has created revolution in
the business world as it paved way for better, effective
communications and collaborations leading to better business
globally.
Uses:
 Industrial companies , use computer to create an
 automated time clock and earning system. In addition to
 this, computer software exists to automate the processes
 involved in buying and receiving material or goods to
 other companies.
Other uses:
 Payroll:
For printing and depositing paychecks to applying raises and bonuses.

 Cash register:
Modern cash register are often networked computer systems, allowing companies to
maintain much more up to date and accurate transaction records.

 Website:
Most industries have been migrating towards the internet over the past two
decades, resulting in the need of website that require not only server space,
But maintenance and update as well.

 Customer database:
Customer database are used not just to track order information for clients, but also
to chronicle interaction to better serve client in future
 Benefits:
Computers can automate many processes in an industrial
workplace to save both time and money. Additionally, a
computer network can offer access to work-related files from
multiple computers simultaneously. This enable more employees
convenient access to these files.
A computer-based shipping and receiving system can potentially
expedite shipping services and reduce redundant ordering.
 Considerations:
Installing computer, software and a network for an industrial
business may require an initial financial commitment, especially
if the company seeks and outside technical service company.
Computer is now playing a vital role in the lives of
people today. It has revolutionized, the way one
used to live. One cannot now imagine a world
without computers, without information technology.
It made things happen really wonderful. It gave a
virtual world itself, where there are no barriers for
communication, information sharing, idea sharing
etc. Every field of human activity, may is be his daily
life, official life, everything is influenced under the
cover of information Technology.
