12. ICOA
Strategic Goal 1:
• Support Older Idahoans to live independent
and healthy lives in the communities of their
choice.
Strategic Goal 2:
• Promote safety, self-determination and
dignity for seniors and vulnerable adults.
14. Recommend needed state policies, legislative solutions, and
provide an implementable path to develop a multi-disciplinary
approach to APS. Research will include:
1. Methodologies to provide early prevention,
2. Early crisis intervention including short term alternative
community placements,
3. The use, effectiveness, and implementation of State Adult
Protection registry,
4. Feasibility analysis to incorporate established rural support
systems, such as Rural Critical Access Hospitals and primary care
providers, into the APS network, and
5. Performance standards to build core competencies that measure
APS progress, effectiveness, and efficiency.
The research will involve stakeholders, facilitated meetings and
national subject matter experts. The outcome is to select an
evidence based model tailored to Idaho’s needs to prevent and/or
respond to abuse, neglect and exploitation.
