2. G.R.A.I.N
G- Genre-: this tells the audience which type of
film the movie will be based on. For
example, romance, action, horror, comedy etc.
R- Representation: this is where characters are
shown to the audience. Such as gender, age, sex
and ethnicity.
A- Audience: this is us. We watch the movie, the
producers promote their work to us.
I- Institution: the group or society that produce a
media piece and provide financial backing, for
example: Warner Bros or Walt Disney
N- Narrative: the plot or block characters most
sources of media share.
3. Mise-en-scene
Mise-en-scene is French for ‘everything in the
scene’. It is an expression used to describe
the design of a media production. This is made
evident by different techniques such as: layout of
setting, props, cinematography and
storyboarding. Mise-en-scene also includes the
positioning and movement of actors on the
set, which is called blocking.
