3. PROBLEM
Even though recycle bins are available
throughout the campus, the environmental
awareness isn’t as effective as it should be,
since there’s no clarity among students about
the bin they ought to choose for them to
deposit their waste.
So, ¿how can we make people deposit the
trash in the correct bin?
4. HYPOTHESIS
If there are more visual clues about which bin
the wastes should go, then more people will
deposit their wastes in the correct bin.
Independent Variable: the visual clues
Dependent Variable: how many people will deposit their
wastes in the correct bin
Controlled Variable: the recycle bins
5. Background Research
If no one in the world ever recycled, the world
would be in great danger. Without recycling,
there is the risk that our homes and habitats
could be destroyed, we may not have any
more everyday resources, and people could
die of toxic gases and even the horrible stink
of trash.
6. Experiment
1. Develop new posters for the bins with specific images
that include the products the cafeteria sells.
2. Include bins for organic wastes.
3. Change the color of the recycle bins, so that people
know faster which materials should be put in it.
4. Add an example on the bins, like cans on the aluminium
recycle bins.
5. Create posters that encourage students to take more
environmental awareness.
9. 3. Why?
•
•
•
They get confused.
They don’t have enough time to check the bin they’re
putting their wastes.
They are lazy.

13. Conclusions
In conclusion, we can say that our hypothesis
was partially right, because people leave
their wastes in the bins, but maybe they don’t
really put them in the correct bins. This may
occur because people can’t find the
difference between the different bins, so they
just put the wastes wherever they think it’s
okay.
