3. கேடில் விழுச்செல்வம் கல்வி யொருவற்கு மாடல்ல மற்றை யவை Learning is the true imperishable riches; all other things are not riches

4. கற்க கசடறக் கற்பவை கற்றபின் நிற்க அதற்குத் தக Let a man learn thoroughly whatever he may learn, and let his conduct be worthy of his learning

5. கண்ணுடையர் என்பவர் கற்றோர் முகத்திரண்டு புண்ணுடையர் கல்லா தவர் The learned are said to have eyes, but the unlearned have (merely) two sores in their face

6. அறிவுடையார் ஆவ தறிவார் அறிவிலார் அஃதறி கல்லா தவர் The wise are those who know beforehand what will happen; those who do not know this are the unwise

7. தொட்டனைத் தூறும் மணற்கேணி மாந்தர்க்குக் கற்றனைத் தூறும் அறிவு Water will flow from a well in the sand in proportion to the depth to which it is dug, and knowledge will flow from a man in proportion to his learning

8. ஒருமைக்கண் தான் கற்ற கல்வி ஒருவற்கு எழுமையும் ஏமாப் புடைத்து The learning, which a man has acquired in one birth, will yield him pleasure during seven births

9. உளரென்னும் மாத்திரையர் அல்லால் பயவாக் களரனையர் கல்லா தவர் The unlearned are like worthless barren land: all that can be said of them is, that they exist

10. ஒருமைக்கண் தான் கற்ற கல்வி ஒருவற்கு எழுமையும் ஏமாப் புடைத்து The learning, which a man has acquired in one birth, will yield him pleasure during seven births

11. நன்றாங்கால் நல்லவாக் காண்பவர் அன்றாங்கால் அல்லற் படுவ தெவன் When good things come, men view them all as gain; When evils come, why then should they complain?

12. ஆகூழால் தோன்றும் அசைவின்மை கைப்பொருள் போகூழால் தோன்றும் மடி Perseverance comes from a prosperous fate, and idleness from an adverse fate

13. அரியஎன்று ஆகாத இல்லைபொச் சாவாக் கருவியால் போற்றிச் செயின் There is nothing too difficult to be accomplished, if a man set about it carefully, with unflinching endeavour

14. நகல்வல்லர் அல்லார்க்கு மாயிரு ஞாலம் பகலும்பாற் பட்டன்று இருள் To those who cannot rejoice, the wide world is buried darkness even in day light

15. இடுக்கண் வருங்கால் நகுக அதனை அடுத்தூர்வது அஃதொப்ப தில் If troubles come, laugh; there is nothing like that, to press upon and drive away sorrow

16. பொறியின்மை யார்க்கும் பழியன்று அறிவறிந்து ஆள்வினை இன்மை பழி Adverse fate is no disgrace to any one; to be without exertion and without knowing what should be known, is disgrace

17. சூழாமல் தானே முடிவெய்தும் தம்குடியைத் தாழாது உஞற்று பவர்க்கு Those who are prompt in their efforts need no deliberation, such efforts will of themselves succeed.

18. நல்லாண்மை என்பது ஒருவற்குத் தான்பிறந்த இல்லாண்மை ஆக்கிக் கொளல் A man's true manliness consists in making himself the head and benefactor of his family

19. நல்லார்கண் பட்ட வறுமையின் இன்னாதே கல்லார்கண் பட் ட திரு Wealth, gained by the unlearned, will give more sorrow than the poverty which may come upon the learned

20. படைகுடி கூழ்அமைச்சு நட்பரண் ஆறும் உடையான் அரசருள் ஏறு He who possesses these six things, an army, a people, wealth, ministers, friends and a fortress, is a lion among kings

21. Labour will produce wealth; idleness will bring poverty முயற்சி திருவினை ஆக்கும் முயற்றின்மை இன்மை புகுத்தி விடும்

22. அறஞ்சாரா நல்குரவு ஈன்றதா யானும் பிறன்போல நோக்கப் படும் He that is reduced to absolute poverty will be regarded as a stranger even by his own mother

23. Enjoy life how it is and as it comes… Things are worse for others and is lot better for us. Often People think opportunity is a matter of luck. I believe opportunities are all around us. Some seize it. Others stand and let it pass by.
