While India produces a large number of graduates each year, only 10-15% of business graduates and 26% of engineering graduates are considered employable by businesses in India. This is due to a mismatch between the skills taught in universities and the skills required by employers. Universities focus more on theoretical knowledge while employers value skills like problem-solving, communication, teamwork and a positive attitude. Both the education system and employers need to work together to bridge this skills gap through measures like increasing vocational training programs, funding for retraining, and encouraging internships.
