2. IN FINLAND
l the level of infant mortality is one of the lowest globally
l the service system established in the 1920’s and it is
free of charge
l vaccination programmes, health counselling, health
check-ups
l families use it nearly 100%

l the Finnish young families feel loneliness and
l lack of social support
l ‘new-helplessness’ has grown

6. ACHIEVEMENTS
in Maputo
l Professionals learned to use ICT in health care for better follow
up for pregnant women and newborns
l School teachers had training in sexual education. The main
source of information on sexual health was the magazines and
pamphlets
l Maputo pregnant families were also developed a mobile phone
application for reserving the clinics appointments.
On Kuopio’s side
l intercultural and international communication was experienced
l New tools for working with immigrants
l The colleague to colleague working and sharing ideas was
l Ideas how communality could be developed in Kuopio

8. CONCLUSION
In Mozambique the strong communality is
seen in health care. In Finland families feel
left alone.
The bilateral project has shown how the two
countries can learn from each other and
collaboratively develop public health
activities.
