station in Atlanta, Georgia
called Radio Free Georgia
(WRFG-FM 89.3). Powell is
also known for creating the

Fay Bellamy Powell wrote a chapter in the book “Hands on the
Freedom Plow titled “Play Time is Over”. She discusses her
meeting with Malcolm X and how she got involved in the
SNCC. Her involvement with the Selma Movement was
important, even though her role isn’t portrayed in many movies
or documentaries about the Selma movement.
