The Titanic sank in 1912 after hitting an iceberg, killing over half of the passengers and crew. As water flooded into the lower decks, people rushed to get on lifeboats while the ship took on more water and began tilting upward. Many passengers jumped into the icy water or drowned in the sinking ship. Though the narrator survived, they will never forget their friend Jack who gave his life to save the narrator's.

It could have been me; it could have been my life. But I lived to see another.
The Titanic, known as the unsinkable ship skunked. The ship rocked as water
poured into the kitchens and rooms. Water reached all the way up to the
2ndclass floors. So many people drowned within minutes. People and
crewmembers jumped off the ship and fell into the sea.
My family rushed out as fast as we could. Our room was full of ice and
water. Women and children were first on lifeboats. Ice fell on the ship’s deck,
and poured into the 1st class rooms. Lifeboats were rapidly going down for
women and children. Men were left to die with the ship, or jumped off.
I ran as fast as I could to douche the falling ice. Sirens were loud, but
people were the loudest. People screamed to the top of their lungs. Reaching the
final hour, the ship tilted upward as it sunk. Ice soon turned to water. People
ran off the ship to escape the ice.
I never knew how one block of ice could cause such chaos. Over half of the ship’s
crew and passengers died. The ship’s crew got it worst. But not me, I lived to see
the world. Excepted Jack, he took his life to save mine. I will never forget him,
forever.
