2. Hypothesis:
Is there a correlation between the number of Twitter
followers and the number of votes a candidate
receives on American Idol?
3. Process:
We will track the # of followers the day of each
elimination round to see who is leading and lagging
and use this # to predict who stays and who leaves
the show.
4. Slide 6 shows the # of followers the afternoon after
the top 10 were chosen on March 7th.
This slide show will be updated each week to track
the progress.
5. Angie Miller has a clear lead over most of the other
contestants, the next closest is Lazaro.
Angie appears to be the front runner to win Idol if the
correlation between Twitter followers and votes on
the show exists.
8. Results for March 14th Show
Angie, Candice and Kree were all in the top three
after the results show this Thursday night at 8pm
Lazaro made it to #4
Curtis, with the lowest followings was cut in this
weeks show, backing up the hypothesis stated in the
previous slide.
These results reflect that the more Twitter followers a
contestant has, the less chance they have of getting
kicked off in the results show.
10. Results for March 21st Show
Based purely on current follower counts, our top
three should be Angie, Lazaro, and Kree.
While Amber, Devin and Paul with the lowest amount
of followers all should be headed to the bottom
three.
With the results in we see that Paul Jolley was
eliminated in this week’s show.
One of the contestants with a very low following on
Twitter.
