A Scottish general named Macbeth, hearing a
prophecy from three witches that he would be King of
Scotland. Encouraged by his power-stricken wife, he
fulfilled it by murdering King Duncan and his friends.
He was eventually destroyed by friend-turned-enemy
Macduff, which fulfilled another prophecy.
