An eight-car pileup on highway 101 killed three. Vivian Ramirez (age 42) was driving
intoxicated and was reaching for her phone when she swerved out of control and hit two cars.
The first car hit was a Volkswagen on their way back from a funeral, killing Rafael Llamas and
Graciela Llamas instantly. The third rider, Maria Llamas, died in the hospital Thursday, the 23 of
February. The fourth passenger clings to live says authorities. A second vehicle, a 2009 Toyota
had a passenger taken in for moderate injuries.
A car heading north later on hit the ripped out engine of the Volkswagen and rammed
into another car, neither were seriously injured. Later on two other cars hit each other trying to
avoid the crash.
This crash could have been easily avoided. If Vivian Ramirez would’ve not made the
choice to drive while intoxicated along with waiting to answer his phone she could’ve not cause,
the destruction, injury, and death that happened.
