WITH CATENA,
YOU’RE THE ARCHITECT.
Some paper, a pen and your imagination – that‘s all you need to create your personal dream
furniture. If this is your architectural debut, we’d like to start off by explaining our simple
modular design principle:
The cabinets are available in different widths, heights and depths – depending on the model,
available with upward-opening or downward-opening flaps, doors, drawers or open compart-
ments (p. 19). In planning your design you have a choice of base or wall mounting (p. 15) or
pride of place right in the middle of the room (p. 17). Glass shelves and panels are available as
additional elements.
You‘re free to expand upwards, to the right or left – after all, CATENA means „chain“ for a reason.

CREATE A MONUMENT IN YOUR LIVING ROOM.
STARTING WITH A BASE.
You can position your CATENA elements either on a base or mount them as a hanging wall unit, provided your
walls can support them. When using the base mounting option, the cabinet units are simply placed on the aluminium-
coloured base. For the wall mounting option, wall mounting sets provide the necessary support.

The optional co-ordinated back walls enable you to use CATENA as a room partition. For example, between
your dining and living rooms, your desk and conference table, or as an elegant partition in an open-plan office.
It‘s not by sheer coincidence that lever arch files fit perfectly in the cabinets.

IT‘S ALSO A PRACTICAL ONE.
The cabinets measuring 55 cm in depth come with a choice of an downward-opening flap with handle and soft
opening and closing mechanism or a drawer with handle and soft closing mechanism including an open shelving
unit. Depending on the model, the cabinets measuring 37 cm in depth come with either a handle-free door and
push-to-open mechanism or a handle-free upward-opening flap with push-to-open and soft-opening mechanisms.
A tray which holds up to 144 CDs or 64 DVDs for storing your music and movie collection is also available.
There is also a drawer element for storing suspension files.

DURABLE EASY-CARE SURFACES.
Once the design of your furniture has been determined, the next step is to choose the
surfaces. You can really indulge yourself here, too. There are eight different glass colours
for the top panels and fronts. Additionally, there are two natural wood veneers plus an
aluminium-coloured finish for the front panels and back walls (partition format) with
2,000 NCS glass colours to choose from. For the boxes, there are three colours and two
natural wood veneers.
What advantages does glass have over a painted finish?
In contrast to the high-gloss painted surfaces of other furniture
items, the coloured glass surfaces of CATENA are considerably
brighter and much easier to look after, due to their scratch-proof
finish.

in sound system. You can choose between active Virtual Surround Sound systems and passive sound systems. Find out

The CATENA active sound systems turn your living room into a real home cinema.
Depending on the furniture size, you have a choice of a one module system (CTA1) or

ONE CONTROL IS ALL YOU NEED!
DVD player, sat receiver, TV, amplifier, tuner … if you want to enjoy home entertainment from a tra-
ditional separate base system from your sofa, you‘ll usually have your hands full with several diffe-
rent remotes – but the Spectral Remote puts an end to this confusion and allows you to control all
your A/V components from a single handset. The multifunctional radio control for CTA1 and CTA2
sound systems can be programmed to control all your A/V units – even to control the amplifier and
integrated tuner from different rooms or when the unit‘s doors are closed.
Tip: with the optional Infrared Link System you can control your other A/V components too when
the doors are closed. In the case of units which generate higher heat levels the flap must remain
open during operation – please refer to the appropriate manufacturer‘s manual.

If you already own a valuable amplifier or A/V receiver but are fed up with the intrusive front
speakers, then the passive sound systems are just right for you. The CTP1 speakers are integrated

DELETE THE PHRASE ‘CABLE CHAOS’
FROM YOUR VOCABULARY.
Cables lying about are a real problem in many living rooms. On the one hand, because they are unsightly.
And on the other, because they attract dust like a magnet. When we built CATENA, we thought long and hard
about cable management. The result: perfectly conceived cable runs, drill holes and recesses for linking all
connections all mains cables laid to reach the nearest mains socket.
Our diathermic curtains serve as a screen from the front and as dust protection from the back. In compartments
without technical components, screens prevent a view of the back area.

For those who would like to enjoy the beauty of CATENA in the dark, too, there is multi-colour LED illumination
for the base, panels and wall units. With the infra-red remote control which is included, you can choose a colour
to suit your mood or set a fascinating programme of colour changes. Along with the colours you can also bring
up a pleasant white light at the push of a button. The brightness is adjustable.
To operate the multi-colour LED illumination the Infra-red Link System ZU1281 and the Controller Set ZU1411
are required (see page 45).
