lections because I understood the fabrics and the con-
struction (and generally, the other museum staff didn’t). I
realized that I loved working with historic textiles of all
sorts and decided to focus on that as a curator, so I got a
wardrobe in America during the pivotal years between the
Civil War and World War II. The exhibit is framed around master’s degree in costume and textile history from
