Graduate School Preview Weekend
Seniors learn about the benefits and experiences
associated with an advanced degree. Infor-
mation is delivered by Virginia Tech faculty, stu-
dents, and graduate admissions administrators.
Graduate Peer Mentoring
Fellow students are paired with 1st year gradu-
ate students to help them settle into their pro-
gram of study and new community. Mentors
receive training and professional development
focused on working in diverse environments.

New Horizon Graduate Scholars
This community of faculty-nominated Masters and
PhD students honors the idea that diversity en-
courages discovery. Scholars receive professional
development and sponsorship opportunities such
as training workshops, internship and conference

New Horizon Summer Bridge
First year New Horizon Graduate Scholars attend a
two week onboarding program to ease into gradu-
ate life. Students tour labs and engage with faculty
and current students related to their research in-
terests. Content also covered: university resources
and opportunities and general tips on life as a
graduate student.
