Editor's Notes
I am Jonas Klevhag, business advisorwith Teknopol across the street and across Skåne.I amhereto talk about an alternative tobeingemployed. Whatdoes it meanto be employed by yourself or work for small startup companies.
This is us. 15+ business advisors, everybody previously or currently entrepreneurs. Our combined experience cover most industry sectors and most disciplines within a business.Above you see our clients. Entrepreneurs in Mobile Heights Business Center helping each other out.I would like to talk a little about why I believe the future is becoming more and more entrepreneurial and less industrial.
This is an example from the mobile industry.Jun 29th 2007 is a memorable date for the mobile industry.
Until then the market leading oil tankers of mobile was cruising the big oceans steadily ahead.
On June 29th the iPhone was introduced. At first it was just regarded as an annoying speedboat trying to get some market attention. Much like Greenpeace boats that jeopardize the safety of everyone. Today we know this little speedboat has redefined an industry.
As a consequence we have seen the oiltankers do more of this. They are increasingly regarding speedboats as useful tenders to explore the beaches they previously only assessed from a distance. But this development is slow.
But we also see this. Speedboats getting increasingly better at organizing themselves in larger, temporary formations, presenting a new kind of threat to oil tankers! Some even argue that we are done with industrialism and rapidly moving into the era of entrepreneurialism.
To those of you who think of entrepreneurship as high risk, I would like to illustrate how an entrpreneur perceives it.Where the entrepreneur lives in a constant relation with rock bottom, the employed has to trust someone else's judgment. The operating mode is speed rather than size. (MTG reception quote)Loyalty is replaced by passion. And last but not least, you build for yourself, not someone else.So you see it’s a different kind of risk. It’s not comparable with the risk you perceive as employed.
But you don’t necessarily have to start your own company to experience this entrepreneurial world. In many cases previously employed with severance pay invest their time to take a share in a startup company. And of course you can also get a regular job with these small companies if they are able to employ. Usually with a lower wage.
Being an entrepreneur in any business that creates value for these three areas Personalized HealthSustainable CitiesSmart Materialsmeans that you have potential public customers and a strategic focus to develop these sectors working in your favor.
Either way Teknopol is available to help your startup company find its market and grow.JörgenGustafsson and Magnus Holm are two of our advisors focusing on Life Science.Feel free to contact them.
Or me.Ihopeyouunderstand the possibilities and opportunities in entrepreneurship.Thankyou for yourtime!
