2. None of us are too strong to fall
1Co 10:12 NKJV Therefore let him who thinks he
stands take heed lest he fall.
There are many things that we need to teach our
children.
Read Nehemiah 13:23-31
3. God Knows Best
1. God always knows best!
2. The children of Israel were not to intermarry.
• Deu 7:2-3 NKJV and when the LORD your God
delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them
and utterly destroy them. You shall make no
covenant with them nor show mercy to them. (3)
Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall
not give your daughter to their son, nor take their
daughter for your son.
• God said it, that should have settled it!!!
• When God speaks we should listen.
4. God Knows Best
• There was nothing racial involved.
• God had a valid reason.
• Deu 7:4-5 NKJV For they will turn your sons away from
following Me, to serve other gods; so the anger of the
LORD will be aroused against you and destroy you
suddenly. (5) But thus you shall deal with them: you
shall destroy their altars, and break down their sacred
pillars, and cut down their wooden images, and burn
their carved images with fire.
5. God Knows Best
3. It takes courage and strength to follow God’s law.
• As early at Joshua 9, the children of Israel made a
pact with the Gibeonites.
• Jos 18:3 NKJV Then Joshua said to the children of
Israel: "How long will you neglect to go and
possess the land which the LORD God of your
fathers has given you?
6. God Knows Best
• Jdg 2:1-3 NKJV Then the Angel of the LORD came up
from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: "I led you up from
Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore
to your fathers; and I said, 'I will never break My
covenant with you. (2) And you shall make no
covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall
tear down their altars.' But you have not obeyed My
voice. Why have you done this? (3) Therefore I also
said, 'I will not drive them out before you; but they
shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a
snare to you.' "
7. God Knows Best
4. Was God Right?
• Jdg 3:5-7 NKJV Thus the children of Israel dwelt among
the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites,
the Hivites, and the Jebusites. (6) And they took their
daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to
their sons; and they served their gods. (7) So the
children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD. They
forgot the LORD their God, and served the
Baals and Asherahs.
8. God Knows Best
• Eze 23:35-39 NKJV "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:
'Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your
back, Therefore you shall bear the penalty Of your
lewdness and your harlotry.' " (36) The LORD also said to
me: "Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah?
Then declare to them their abominations. (37) For they
have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands.
They have committed adultery with their idols, and even
sacrificed their sons whom they bore to Me, passing them
through the fire, to devour them.
9. God Knows Best
• Eze 23:35-39 continued (38) Moreover they have done
this to Me: They have defiled My sanctuary on the same
day and profaned My Sabbaths. (39) For after they had
slain their children for their idols, on the same day they
came into My sanctuary to profane it; and indeed thus
they have done in the midst of My house.
10. God Knows Best
Now After All This They Were Back
Intermarrying!!!
Neh 13:26 KJV Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by
these things? yet among many nations was there no king
like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made
him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did
outlandish women cause to sin.
11. The Sins of Solomon
1. His kingdom started with so much promise.
2. Solomon may have been the wealthiest man to ever live.
3. The downfall of Solomon.
• Read 1 Kings 11:1-10
4. Outlandish woman
• Foreign, not native
• Idol Worshipper
• These women led to a divided kingdom
12. Shall We Transgress Against God?
1. Transgression against God is evil.
2. Transgression against God is Sin
• Nehemiah 13:27 KJVR Shall we then hearken unto
you to do all this great evil, to transgress against
our God in marrying strange wives?
• 1 John 3:4 KJVR Whosoever committeth sin
transgresseth also the law: for sin is the
transgression of the law.
3. Sin leads to destruction; Romans 6:23.
13. A Desire for Purity
1. We no longer choose our children’s spouses.
2. Abstain from every form of evil.
• 1Th 5:21-23 NKJV Test all things; hold fast what is
good. (22) Abstain from every form of evil. (23)
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you
completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and
body be preserved blameless at the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
3. Unequally Yoked
14. 2Co 6:14-18 NKJV Do not be unequally yoked together with
unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with
lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
(15) And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has
a believer with an unbeliever? (16) And what agreement has
the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the
living God. As God has said: "I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND
WALK AMONG THEM. I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL
BE MY PEOPLE." (17) Therefore "COME OUT FROM AMONG
THEM AND BE SEPARATE, SAYS THE LORD. DO NOT TOUCH
WHAT IS UNCLEAN, AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU." (18) "I WILL
BE A FATHER TO YOU, AND YOU SHALL BE MY SONS AND
DAUGHTERS, SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY."
15. God Still wants us to be Pure
Eph 5:26-27 NKJV that He might sanctify and cleanse
her with the washing of water by the word, (27) that
He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not
having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she
should be holy and without blemish.
