Currently the corporate director of human resources at Baptist Health South
Florida, Jill Marten has also performed in executive HR roles with
organizations like the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine-UHealth
System and the Hospital Corporation of America. In addition to her
professional endeavors, Jill Marten has supported a number of charitable
organizations, including the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Earns Supplemental Grant
The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center recently announced its receipt of
a $170,000 one-year, supplemental award from the National Cancer Institute
(NCI). With this latest award, Sylvester will become the coordinating facility
for the NCI’s Geographic Management of Cancer Health Disparities Program -
Region 3 (GMaP3), an 11-institution research collective. The new grant
supplements a prior five-year NCI endowment that funds cervical cancer
research.

Awarded in 2010, the previous grant supports Sylvester’s South Florida Center
for Reducing Cancer Disparities (SUCCESS) program. The founders of SUCCESS
, who will also lead GMaP3, note that the latest award will help them build on
existing research, as well as foster collaboration between research
institutions that share objectives but typically work independently.
