A two month old husky named Browny was admitted to the veterinary hospital with symptoms of fever, loss of appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, and vomiting. A rapid test was positive and initial bloodwork showed neutrophilia, low red blood cells, hemoglobin, and hematocrit. Over subsequent days the dog's condition worsened with bloody diarrhea and vomiting while bloodwork showed decreasing white blood cell and neutrophil counts with lymphocytosis. By day 6 the dog had recovered its appetite and activity and bloodwork was normal allowing for discharge from the hospital. The veterinary hospital reported a 99% survival rate for parvo cases based on their diagnostic capabilities and treatment experience.
