Birds eye view
1. Birds Eye View
By: Jessica
One foot after another, “You’ve got this Jessica,” I told myself encouragingly, After
what seemed like hours but was only about two minutes of the climbing the wooden
stairs I got to the top. As I take the final step, my harness buckles jingle. Finally I step
onto the platform. “Are you ready to go!?” The Springhill employee standing also on
the platform says “…..Yes,” I say hesitantly. “Alright, come here!” she says. I slowly
walk toward her, my legs feel like lead. She picks up my harness and attaches it to
my wire. I plop onto the ledge and look down. The moment I did that instantly I
regretted it. All I see is many (I think) people who look like ants on the ground. “Ok,
you can go your up first!” The excited Springhill employee says as she finishes
strapping everyone in. “Ok Jess take the leap of faith!” I say to myself. The last thing
I would’ve thought I would be doing was jumping off of a platform hanging right
over a lake. The only support was my harness and 1 ½ inch wire. Boom just like that I
jump off. When I’m flying through the air I let go. I suddenly realize what fun I’m
having. I let the air rush through my hair and look at the beautiful scenery above
and below me. “WOOOHOO!” I cry almost laughing. I felt my line catch and I
come to a halt. I suddenly realize that it’s over. “Wait!” I say as they are taking my
harness off of the wire. “That’s it!? I wanna go again!” But sadly I know I have to wait
until next year when I come back to Springhill and ride the zipline again.
