What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why ?
All together there are six major studios who own their own distribution companies and these
are:
Warner Brothers
Universal
20th Century Fox
Walt Disney Pictures
Sony Pictures
Paramount Pictures
A film distributor is a company or an individual who releases movies to the public either
theatrically or for home viewing i.e. DVDs. The distributor may set the release date of the
film and the method in which it is exhibited or made available for viewing.

A lot of Crime/Action films have a mainstream audience but because it is of a particular taste
of violence, gore and language a lot of people do not like them. They are most defiantly not
the most popular films out although the normal audiences would be males and it is normally a
young male’s favourite genre to watch which is why it is rated so high. But because our film
would be low budget I would use an individual distribute because we would not be able to
afford it although because of its genre by starting of small we could go really big.

I would choose to have our film distributed by Revolver Entertainment because of its success.
Over the last ten years they have been awarded 18 of the industry’s top awards for their
marketing excellence. They have also been the distributors for our chosen genre of
Crime/Action such as Kidult Hood, Adult hood and Dead Man Running. I think that by using
Revolver Entertainment it would benefit is greatly and would help to make our film get more
views. Also as stated bellow Crime/Action film earn a lot of money, Green Street made a
total of $3,154,346. After knowing this it proves that Crime/Action films would need a major
distributer to support us and to help us sell as many as we would like to.
I think that to start off with we should start of by advertising our film on things such as Facebook ,
Youtube, Twitter as we do not have the budget to market it anywhere else . We are choosing to do
this because it gives us a wide audience of people who will be watching our product which will help
to promote it. Because of our small budget we decided to research into some other successful
movies from our genre who also had a small budget and it proved to be very useful information
because it made us realize that even small budget films go a long way. Films such
                                                                                             as Kidult
                                                                                             Hood had a
                                                                                             low budget
                                                                                             but still
                                                                                             succeeded
                                                                                             really well
                                                                                             and made a
                                                                                             lot with box
                                                                                             office.
Another popular
    low budget film
    with in our genre
    is Submarine as
    you can see in the
    picture to the left.
    This proved to us
    that our genre
    would be a good
    selling film even
    with a low budget
    .
