Workshop Description
This workshop provides an introduction to effective writing in a business setting. Participants learn to identify
common mistakes in writing, the way to approach writing in a business context, how to ensure your writing is
concise and well-structured and identifying how best to frame various forms of communication including
persuasive writing. Attention is also given to explore common strategies for developing reports and
communicating effectively via email, memos and letters.
About the Speaker
Jeremy Zimmerman is the director of marketing at California Baptist University, a liberal
arts university in Southern California. In this capacity, he is responsible for guiding the
university’s marketing strategy including brand stewardship, advertising planning, program
marketing and performance analysis. Prior to joining on at CBU, Jeremy was principal and
director of public relations at AMR Advertising and Marketing. During his ten years at
AMR, Jeremy was involved in every aspect of agency operations from business
development to account management with clients in a wide range of industries including
consumer electronics, financial services, industrial security, manufacturing technology and oil and gas
exploration. Jeremy earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Riverside, and MBA from the
University of Redlands.
