Facelift or Rhytidectomy is a cosmetic surgical procedure that helps in removing wrinkles,
excessive fat, and saggy skin. The completion of this procedure takes three to four hours. This
procedure can be combined with other cosmetic treatments (like neck lift) to deliver better
aesthetic results.
Before starting with the surgical procedure, patient is either
given general or local anesthesia. Once the area gets numb,
surgeon makes the incisions at the hairline, and at the front and
behind the ear. Extension of incisions depends on the patient’s
facial symmetry and the expected results.
In this procedure, the skin is lifted and loose muscles are tightened. Excessive fat under the
neck is also removed. After making the alterations, incisions are closed with sutures. Depending
on the recovery of patients, sutures are kept for five to nine days. After the removal of sutures,
face is bandaged for one to two days.
