    IV. Class  Schedule   We  will  cover  a  variety  of  topics  in  this  class.    Please  see  the  tentative  schedule  below.     The  dates  and  topics  are  subject  to  change.     Topic  1:  Yearbook  Photography   September  6th  –  November  22nd       Tasks/Topics:  Photojournalism,  deciding  between  good  and  bad  yearbook  photos,   creating  a  yearbook  spread,  etc.    You  will  be  assigned  to  various  events  throughout  the   trimester  to  be  the  photographer  (JV  Football,  Cross  County,  Swimming,  etc.)     Topic  2:  Photo  Composition   September  12th  –  September      23rd     Tasks/Topics:  Rule  of  thirds,  symmetry,  leading  lines,  framing,  etc.     Topic  3:  Sharing,  Editing,  and  Publishing   September  26th  –  October  14th     Your  Photos   Websites:  Picasa  Web  Albums,  Flickr,  Picnik,  FotoFlexer,  Photobucket,  Facebook,   Animoto,  BeFunky,  Picartia,  and  more.     Techniques:  Cropping,  framing,  sepia,  black  and  white,  special  effects  (many  of  the  sites   listed  above  have  very  different  special  effects)     Topic  4:  Camera  Modes   October  17th  –  October  21st     Tasks/Topics:  Varies  by  camera  model,  but  will  include  some  combination  of  portrait,   macro,  sports,  landscape,  and  more.     Topic  5:  A  History  of  Photography   October  24th  –  October  28th     Tasks/Topics:  The  invention  of  the  camera,  digital  photography,  famous  photographers.     Topic  6:  Photography-­‐related  Careers   October  31st  –  November  4th     Tasks/Topics:  You  will  research  photography  careers,  look  at  real  job  postings,  and   consider  salary  and  working  conditions.     Topic  7:  Camera  Shopping   November  7th  –  November  18th     Tasks/Topics:  You  will  compare  camera  modes,  body  types  (point-­‐and-­‐shoot  vs.  DSLR),   other  features  and  price.    A  component  of  this  section  of  the  course  will  include  cell   phone  cameras.
