Lakeview Schools: Facilities Improvement Plan Presented by: James I. Doig Director of Education
Mission: To develop and implement an improved facility space for the purposes of the Lakeview Elementary School and the Lakeview Wellness Center
Proposed Facilities Improvement : Lakeview will be renovating the lower level of high school building one for use as the new home for Lakeview Elementary School and the Lakeview Wellness Center. This site offers tremendous potential for our students with : a. Two beautifully modern classroom spaces, complete with a mix of natural and artificial lighting and improved ventilation; b. Access to technology capabilities; c. A new playground space dedicated to elementary school student usage; d. Easier access to the barn and farm animals; e. Continued in-house access to Speech/language and Occupational Therapy Rooms in their new rooms; and g. New in-house access to the Lakeview Wellness Center.
Floorplan of the proposed renovation of the lower level of high school building #1
Elementary School: Lakeview Elementary School will enjoy two new classrooms. The classrooms will be adjoining, with a dedicated space of 20 x 22’ each. They will be separated by a partitioning wall that can be easily moved in order to enjoy a larger single space for whole school activities. Calming areas have been designed into each of the classrooms in order to maintain personal safety protocols for students and staff. Students and staff will experience improved environmental attributes with access to natural and artificial light as well as improved ventilation.
Wellness Center: Lakeview Schools will be introducing a Wellness Program as part of its overall physical education curriculum. The Wellness Center will be a dedicated 30 x 32’ space and is designed to promote the components of wellness, with a focus upon the individual. This includes technology access, stretching and walking areas and an academic configuration for the research and development aspects of the curriculum. The Wellness center will have designated egress point for elementary and high school students.
