The natural log, denoted ln, is an alternative to the common log where the base of the logarithm is e instead of 10. The natural log of e is equal to 1, and all the same logarithmic laws for addition and multiplication apply as with common logs. The natural log is sometimes preferred over the common log as calculations are generally easier.
