- some of you are on my naughty list, because you try to do social media, but you are doing so poorly that you might as well be throwing money in the toilet
- Look at all these bad ads. Pictures of “tough” lawyers talking about money. No call to actions, Just Bad stuff. and these are the better ones i have found. I wasn’t going to do a whole slide but I could have come up with 100 images of lawyers wearing boxing gloves because they “fight” for you!
- One of the things I am best known for is the christmas tree. Everyone loves a christmas tree.
- Some families even make a trek every year to cut down their own. Look at these cute kids! Look at that handsome man and his beautiful family. Such Treasures. Honestly my favorite in the whole world. Don’t be jealous.
- but with a tree comes presents, because really all your trees look so BARE when I come down the chimney and see it there. and I love putting all those presents around a tree, because as we all know, and finish this sentence for me “it is better to give than to . . . . ”
- So when it comes to social media, I don’t want you to give me the equivalent of some tchotchke stuff that you got for free. I mean, who has kids, or friends, or family, who would be happy getting santa branded keychains and coffee mugs for christmas? No, they want the GOOD STUFF. The Stuff People talk about. Not this crap. So what is the good stuff?
- so what can you give away on social media to people that they WANT to get - there are tons of options available! And when you give it away, some people will ENGAGE with it. They will read your stories, share your images, vote in your polls and take your quizzes. Not everyone will. But those who do can be segmented onto your
- Nice list. people who engage with you are then available for you to retarget and remarket to and give them more information that draws them into your online fan base. People love me because I give them what they want. and those who don’t engage with me, they don’t go on my naughty list, they just stay out there until I find what appeals to them.
- so avoid the crap people don’t want. You know why - the crap people don’t want USUALLY is all about YOU.
- and we want to put out information with NO EGO. Its not about your cool logo, or your cool attitude. Its about them!
- so lets take that christmas tree now and look at it from another perspective. Start with your tree, but this time I want you to
- turn it upside down. Start with giving away those presents. GIve them away with NO ego. Give them away and put effort into them. If you came to me, sat on my lap and told me what you wanted for christmas, and then I gavce you that santa coffee mug, would you love that experience? would you rave about it? would you remember it for years? Nope!
- so when you start with the presents give a LOT of them. GIve them out to everyone. See who responds and then . . .
- give them more of what they like. If people respond to your good images give them more. walk them into your tribe by giving them what they want when they want it.
- So what this is is a traditional marketing FUNNEL system and this is how you market on social media. People are not there to buy - they are there for fun and diversion. Social media is not like Pay Per Click or yellow pages ads or selling legal services to hot leads.
- Now, we haven’t finished with the tree because if you didn’t notice, we forgot to have something. We need to add that star. And who is that star?
- That star is your ideal client. That star needs your help and knows you are the best positioned to help them. And you showed them you are the best because you gave more than your received. You gave them stuff they wanted not stuff YOU wanted to give them. That star will be your guide to making money by marketing on social media.
