The Business program at Centennial College presents a broad spectrum of courses that range across the board of possibilities and include mathematics, business, marketing, human resources and more.
1. Make the World of Business Your Business
The business world encompasses a variety of jobs that range from entry-level to managerial and
beyond. Centennial College’s Business program provides students with education, knowledge
and training in broad areas of business that will see them entering entry-level jobs across any
industry or figuring out which area suits them best before they go on to specialized training.
The Business Fundamentals program emphasizes skills such as mathematical computing,
analytical disciplines and communication. It also provides a solid foundation in contemporary
concepts, theories and business practices that are related to the functional areas of the business
world. There is also technology-supported learning in and out of the classroom. Students of the
program do case studies, research, participate in teamwork, and more through courses such as
Strategies for Business Success, Mathematics of Finance, Business Operations, Human Resource
Management, Principles of Marketing, Retailing and more.
As you can see, the courses encompass a very wide range of business, which ensures that you
graduate with enough knowledge about international business concepts to make a well-informed
decision about the area in which you want to specialize. The program takes two years to
complete and in order to graduate; students must have a minimum C grade average and an
overall GPA of 2.0. Once you graduate, you are able to pursue a career or, if eligible, participate
in articulated programs with selected universities, institutes and professional associations. These
partnerships allow students to apply credits earned at Centennial College towards further study at
other institutions. Check out the school’s partners by viewing the Business program benefits
page.
However, as with any other college program, before being accepted to the Business offering,
students must meet a few prerequisites. Centennial College expects applicants to present at
minimum an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent or be 19 years of age or older.
They must also possess a compulsory English 12C or U or skills assessment, or equivalent and
Math 11C, M or U, or 12C or U or skills assessment, or equivalent. Possession of minimum
admission requirements does not guarantee entry to the program.
Once you are accepted, meet the requirements of both years of the program, and decide to pursue
a career upon graduation, you may be employed in a number of positions. Graduates of the
Business program secure entry-level positions as: customer service representatives, procurement
assistants, human resources generalists, marketing assistants, service supervisors, junior business
analysts, operations coordinators and insurance claims representatives.
