Activity: How to dribble a basketball Grade: 3rd Equipment needed: 25 colored dots, 27 basketballs, 6 cones, and 6 hula hoops.
Objectives: Assessment of Objectives No. of Students: 25
1. To develop hand eye coordination.
2. To develop motor skills
3. To have fun w hile exercising and follow ing directions.
Anticipatory set: How many of you have ever played or w atched basketball on tv? To be really good like Lebron James or Kobe Bryant do you think that they have to practice to be
really good? Today w e are going to practice like Lebron James and Kobe Bryant, so that w e can become really good at dribbling a basketball!

- Jog around cones 3 times.
- High knee around cones 2 times
- Slide around the cones 2 times.

- STRETCHING:
- Arms high above the head.
- Head, shoulders, knees and toes (hold longer on the toes).
- Shoulder stretch
- Arm circles
- Safely run around the
cones.
- Avoid making contact
w ith other students.
- Listen to the
commands of your
teacher.
- Listen for the w histle.
- Be energetic and give
positive feedback.
- Keep your eyes up
w hen running and don’t
run into others.
- Get a good stretch, so

Focus 15 min. The one handed dribble
should last 5 minutes.
Dribbling around the cones

Activity:
- When I say go, go to the nearest hula hoop w ith balls and grab a basketball.
- 1 handed dribbling w hile standing on dots. First w ith one hand then w ith the other.
- Now dribble on the move around the outside of the dots and cones in a circular motion, all
going in one direction.
- Now go the other direction and change hands.
Relay race:
-Form 5 lines of 5.
- 1st relay: dribble dow n and around the cone using one hand. once you get back, sit dow n.
f irst team w ith all member to go around the cone and sit dow n wins.
- 2nd relay: dribble to the cone using one hand and dribble back using the other. First team
to get all members around the cone and back w ins.
Dribbling in place:
- Athletic position, 1
palm up, f lip the ball
like a pancake, then
bounce the ball, keep
your eye on the ball.
Dribbling on the
move:
- Keep your eyes up
w hile dribbling the ball.
- Keep the ball in your
ow n space
- Alw ays be giving
positive feedback.
- Keep your eyes up
w hen you are dribbling
on the move.
Closing
activities 2 min.
-We w ill do this 2 lines at a
time so no one gets hurt.
- Now when I say go, go to the nearest hula hoop and place your ball in it and then get
back on the dots.
- Give them praise for a job well done. Positive feedback.
