Are you aware of the #1 dream killer and how it can affect your business goals or other dreams in life? If not, you're in the right place! In this article, I share with you the #1 killer of dreams and goals and how it ties into why small businesses fail and other dreams don't prevail.
So, what's the #1 dream killer? Drum roll, please!
It's...EXCUSES.
That's right, good ol' excuses.
Let me ask you a question: Are you justifying why you can't do something, or are you finding a reason to do it? You have no excuse to not follow through and what you originally chose to do. Excuses are the number one cause of failure in life.
Your past does not dictate the present. Look no longer toward it. It's about the kind of impact you will make in other people's lives FROM THIS POINT ON.
The problem is: most people don't know they are in bondage to excuses, yet they hate when other people give them excuses.
Famous entrepreneur and business coach Dani Johnson defines an excuse as a "well-planned lie." The reason it is defined as such is because it's a reason that doesn't even exist.
Have you ever been given a load of excuses? Here are two ways that you can get past other people's excuses:
1. Get rid of your own.
Stop arguing and defending your "reasons" why you can't build your business, improve your marriage, go on a trip, etc. If you don't let go of your own excuses, you will never move forward with your purpose in life. About 97% of home based business owners do not make the amount of money they so desire because they are too busy coming up with reasons as to why it's "impossible" for them to accomplish. Strive to be like the 3% who decided to shatter their excuses.
Remember this one thing: you will always attract who you are. Therefore, if people keep giving you tons of excuses, then chances are you are doing the same in your own life. If you really want it, you'll find a way. Excuses just mean you don't want it bad enough.
You cannot expect to lead an organization of people who have go-get-it-done-now attitudes if YOU aren't doing the same. No one wants to follow someone who is leading a life of excuses. People will do what you do, not what you say.
2. Get equipped with the proper skills.
You can't expect to get results if you don't have the skills required for it. If you don't know how to do something, don't quit. FIND OUT HOW. Everyone has potential; most people just lack the necessary skills/experience.
The last thing I want to leave you with is this: All excuses lead us to failures because they always lead you down a road of frustration. Success happens when you let go of your excuses, because when there's a will, there's a way.
