2. Guidelines
• A new medium each day:
• drawing, technology, print, sound,
assemblage, textiles, instillation
• A number rolled by a die:
•
3. What did the 7
projects prototype?
• A way of working.
• Take an idea from start to finish in one day.
• No getting stuck on the details.
• No waiting to do something later, only today.
• Only the idea, the process, and the out come.
• Realizations of advantages and limitations
of specific mediums.
• A learning experience.
4. A way of collecting data and a time limitation
• I decided to record 30 seconds of my day
every three hours and then make a tree
minute long audio track from what I recoded
using 3 tracks in abelton live. I used some
effects on the tracks as well but no more then
3 on each track.
5. A way of selecting a location posters on the 4 train
• I had the number 4 left. I decided to take an old photograph of
panting/collage I had made and make 4 copies of it and put it on the 4
train. I had miss measured the size of the add things on the trains
and my poster was too big. I also ran out of tape underground so I
only put up three of them, I gave the forth to a friend that had helped
me take the pics while I was taping up the posters….
6. A way to determine the size of a work and quantity.
Rolled a 6.
I made 6 artist cards using a 6B pencil
7. “one art”
I posted on facebook that I had to
make an art work using the
number 1. My friend posted a link
to a clip of Futurama where Dr.
Zoidberg askes for “one art please”
This inspired me to make “one art”
I looked to things like currency,
street signs, channel no 5 and 5 in
gold by Charles Demuth. I decided
I wanted this to be a print because
print has the opportunity to be
multiples and this idea of “one art”
being one of a series made me
laugh. I also think I could make
this a street performance. So I
carved out the image and made a
small series of 10.
8. A starting point for the woven news papers.
Starting with two sections and making the strips
each two inches wide was able to give me an idea
of the potential magnitude of the project.
I decided to use the number two as a
measurement for a textile work I
wanted to do using newspaper.
I made each strip 2 inches wide and
wove together two sections of the
New York Times. The inspiration for
this work is based on how everything
in related as well as how some items
in the news will cover up and distract
from others.
