The McMinnville Fastnal branch is continuing to acquire new account customers on a regular basis, including many of those business owners requesting our Fast Solution Machines. This presentation points out the areas in which we must improve to handle the additionaly workload that is inevitably coming in our direction.
McMinnville Branch Reorganization of Inventory and Invoice Systemization
1.
2. In light of recent success in Fast Solutions Technology
Acquisitions, there should an adequate amount of
shelving dedicated to various companies,
Accommodating the items necessary to restock our
customer's equipment in a timely manner. When we
speak to the owner/purchasing director of these
companies, take note in inventory items that is being
consumed on a regular basis, therefore allowing our
branch the opportunity to have those particular items in
stock and ready for delivery. An efficient way of
handling this overstock is to label the shelving by
company/organization name along with our blue
compartments solely dedicated to a particular part.
3.
4. Our overstock inventory is an entire entity in itself,
including shelves labeled from 1A and 1B all the way to
9A and 9B. With over 18 shelves of overstock
inventory, an entire rework of our process arrangement
is imperative. This means a top down tabulation of
each and every item on hand. Even to the extent of
opening boxes and recounting the amount enclosed.
After recounts are completed, there will also be a new
classification system set in place where similar items
are organized together so that future cycle counts will
be completed with mollification.
5.
6. Having visited several different Fastenal locations in the
Middle Tennessee Area, I have came to realize the
importance of a creative clearance display at or near
the entrance of the branch. A perfect example of this
display of creativity was directly at the entrance of the
Gordonsville, TN branch. This is a visual business,
therefore, when a customer initially enters our doors
and sees items at clearance prices in a cleaver and
imaginative product placement position, it peaks their
interests, much like the candy bars located at check out
isles at Wal-Mart stores around the country.
Compulsive purchases happen often, but not often
enough.
7.
8. The vendors that manufacture each and every item we
offer in our branch stores should be represented in
some sort of fashion, whether banner, flyer, or display
case. These advertisements also allow our consumers
to discover what manufacturers we offer, large or small.
As a market that continues to grow, we need to
continue to ascertain the most recent marketing tools
offered from these associations.
9.
10. We as a branch must continue to lookout for the most
recent Fastenal marketing and promotional material
from Fastnet. These pieces of literature are an
immediate increase in sales. When a customer
realizes the exact product he is searching for is 30%
less at our location as opposed to the local hardware
stores of America, it’s very clear where the purchase
will be made. We ordered a four sleeve literature stand
that will remain on our front desk containing
promotional items, specific industry literature, and
several other savings opportunities for the consumer.
11.
12. While the cleanliness of the entire store is vital to
continued consumer spending. A store in disarray
leaves a customer discouraged about not only the
inventory, but also the staff giving them advice on their
projects. While vendor racks and isle organization are
vital, the front desk layout is integral in leaving the
customer with a positive memory of the experience of
that purchase. Today we ordered a four sleeve
business card holder and also a four sleeve Fastenal
marketing material rack that will be placed along side of
our black and golds. Once these items are strategically
and pleasantly relocated, it will benefit the consumer
purchasing experience greatly.
13.
14. In every successful business, records keeping is vital
aspect. Our branch has fell short of constructing a
consistent and well-grounded system of streamlining
the inventory and invoice processing and filling. In the
days to come, our team will completely reorganize each
and every document on hand. At the front desk their
will be a filling folder for the most recent invoices
(present month) organized by date. At the shipping
station (receiving area) all packaging slips will be filled
by vendor. These invoices will be kept in the same
filling sytem for approximately one year, then be placed
in boxes and put above office for future audits.
