Rainbow mountain tour peru, is a tour that depart from cusco, it’s one of our favorite day hikes, that is part of the ausangate mountains range, located on the highland of cusco, at the east of the city, our tour, allows you to enjoy the place at a better time, before the crowds.

Rainbow mountain tours peru: starts with an early meet up
in your hotel, and drive our private transport towar east
from cusco city, after about 3 hours’ drive, we’ll reach a
highland settlement, which is the last settlement near the
vinicunca, the settlement is at“4,426m / 14520ft”, at this
place we will stop for breakfast, our cook will make us
nutritious breakfast with all the nutrients to provide us
enough energy to success this mountain, it is a village of
llama farmers, but villagers has found new way of getting
their income, they rent their horses to visitors and pull
their horses.
We will begin our hike by a gentle flatland and reach a
point where we can see locals in line. Something
interesting about this tours is, the fact that locals wear
their traditional colorgul clothes, as we walk after about
20 minutes will arrive to the control and pay for the park.
Then we will walk towards the rainbow mountain, during
this tour we will cover about 4.17miles / 08kms.

4. The summit of vinicunca offers a
magnificent scenic view, many
mountains that are colorful, most of
them are reddish, we will have time to
explore the area and climb up to a
higher point to make some unique
pictures, then after a good time to enjoy
it, we will return, since we did all uphill ,
now the trail is all gentle downhill, we
will arrive to our village and have lunch
made by our cook, after lunch we will
board our exclusive transport and return
to Cusco arriving back at around 18:00
hrs, at arrival our guide will escort you to
your hotel, where our service ends.
Along the hike we will see nice mountains
covered by highland grass named Icchu, we
will also see llamas, alpacas and locals with
colorful dress, the trail is gentle uphill and
some small steep part, as we gain altitude
we can start seeing reddish color
mountains, after about 2.2 hours we finally
summit the rainbow mountain “5,000m /
16, 404ft” approximately.
