1) The document provides instructions for conducting a parish census in 2016 to create a family telephone directory and family handbook. 2) Animators are to personally visit every family to collect accurate information for the census forms and directory. 3) Completed census forms and summaries are due by July 15th so the family directory can be released on August 15th.

Note to Coordinators/ animators
1. The Census 2016 is the official parish census. The figures will be sent to the Archdiocese, and will be
recorded in the Bombay Catholic Directory.
2. From the data received from this census, the Parish Family Telephone Directory will be prepared. This
bookletwill be the FAMILY HANDBOOK AND ID of the family for the next three years. (in keeping with the
PPC term)
3. To get the latest and accurate figures, it is important that animators personally visit each and every family
(do not simply distribute the forms). This fresh census is an opportunity to look out for even the most
anonymous families who never bothered to keep in touch with the church or community leaders. Once they
are covered under the census, the church/SCC will have their details, and can have regular contact.
4. A set of census papers for your families are given (see file). This will be draft copy.
5. Once you finish the draft copy, please show to Cynthia in the parish office and collect another set of
census papers to prepare the final draft and summary.
6. Preparation ofthe language wise/age group wise summary of the community involves some figure work.
Please take care to produce the accurate summary. (see enclosed format).
7. Neatness and accuracy is a must while filling the individual forms and the preparation of final summary.
8. After preparing the final draft and summary, submitthe setof papers with summary to Cynthia.
9. As each community completes the census work, keep submitting the files in the parish office, so that Tel.
Directory computer feeding work may keep going. However, all the SCCs must complete their census
work and submit their completed census files by 15th July 2016, so that we can officially release the
FAMILY TELEPHONE DIRECTORY AND FAMILY HANDBOOK on 15th August on the feast of Assumption
and Independence Day. (If each cluster animators fills just 10 census forms, the whole parish can be
covered in 2/3 days! Take another 2/3 days for tabulating figures and preparing the final draft. Total it will
take 10 day. But you are given maximum a month!!)
10. As the Family Handbook will remain with the families for the next 3 years, it will be a good opportunity to
advertise your product or service. This will also help the church to recover part of cost of printing. If
interested contact parish office.
11. Enclosed herewith 1 set of blank census forms. This is for the draft copy and for your records (to save
zerox cost). Once you show the filled draft copy forms to Cynthia, you will be given the another set for final
draft and summary forms.
BEST CENSUS AWARD
SCC’s who does the census work neatly (neatness of papers/files, neat handwriting
etc) and submit the final draft and summary at the earliest will be awarded with a
cash prize of Rs 500/- for your community.
