Start By:
a. Separate the torque converter from the transmission.
Note: Put identification marks on all sections of the transmission for assembly purposes.

1. Remove sensor assembly (1A).
2. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to clutch shaft (1). The weight of clutch
shaft (1) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).
3. Lean input shaft (2) away from clutch shaft (1) enough to remove clutch shaft (1).

7. Remove sensor assemblies (4).
shaft (5) is approximately 86 kg (190 lb). Remove clutch shaft (5).
9. Remove bolts (6) and plate (7).

10. Attach a suitable lifting device to output shaft (8). Weight of output shaft (8) is
approximately 27 kg (60 lb). Remove output shaft (8).
11. Remove bearing cups (9) and (11). Remove bearings (10).

12. Use Tooling (C) to turn over housing (13). Remove cover (12). Remove magnetic screen
(14).
13. Use bolts (15) as pusher bolts in order to remove bearing cage (16). Remove the lip seal
from bearing cage (16).

14. Remove O-ring seal (17) and shims (18) from bearing cage (16).
15. Remove bolts (19) and sight glass (20).
16. Remove suction tube (21).

17. Remove bolts (22) from bearing (23). Use bolts (22) as pusher bolts to remove bearing cage
(23).
18. Remove shims (24).

19. Remove O-ring seal (25) from bearing cage (23).
20. Position clutch shaft (3) on a suitable table for disassembly. Remove seal ring (26),
retaining ring (27), and thrust washer (28) from clutch shaft (3).
21. Remove washer (29), gear (30), and spacer (31).

22. Remove thrust washer (32) and gear (33).
23. Remove retaining ring (34). Remove gear (33) from hub (35).
24. Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to remove bearing (36) (not shown) from hub
(35).

25. Remove thrust washer (37) and retainer (38).
26. Remove retaining ring (39). Remove retaining ring (40) and end plate (41).
27. Remove all friction disks (42) and all plates (43).

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a
released spring force.
Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to
release the spring force.
28. Position the shaft assembly with the opening in retaining ring (44) in line with the opening
in Tooling (D).
29. Install Tooling (D), Tooling (F), and Tooling (G) in order to compress the wave spring
below balance piston (45). The wave spring is not shown.
30. Remove retaining ring (44) and remove Tooling (D).

31. Remove balance piston (45).
32. Remove wave spring (46).
33. Remove piston (47).

34. Remove seals (48) from piston (47).
35. Reposition clutch shaft (3) with the opposite end facing up. Remove seal rings (49).
36. Remove retaining ring (50) and thrust washer (51).
37. Remove retaining ring (52) and gear (53).

38. Remove hub (54).

41. Remove retaining ring (60), retaining ring (58), and end plate (59).
42. Remove all friction discs (61) and all plates (62).

50. Position clutch shaft (1) on a suitable table for disassembly. Remove seal ring (68),
retaining ring (69), and thrust washer (70). Remove hub (71).

51. Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press in order to remove two bearings (72) (not shown) from
hub (71).
53. Remove retaining ring (76), retaining ring (75), and end plate (78).

54. Remove all friction discs (79) and all plates (80).

62. Reposition clutch shaft (1) with the opposite end facing up. Remove seal rings (87),
