19. Canadá logra primera medalla de Oro en Copa Panamericana venciendo a Brasil
GUADALAJARA, México, 20 de agosto de 2023.- Canadá logró su primera medalla de oro
Panamericana al vencer a Brasil 3-1 (26-24, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22) en la XVI Copa
Panamericana Mayor Masculina de Voleibol que concluyó este domingo en Guadalajara.
Chile, en tanto, se quedó con la presea de bronce al vencer a México 3-0 (25-22, 25-25, 25-
2), lo que representa su primera medalla en este torneo.
En la historia de la Copa Panamericana, Canadá había perdido el juego por la medalla de
oro en tres ocasiones (2008, 2009, 2022), además Yene tres medallas de bronce. En esta
ocasión Canadá se lleva la medalla de oro ante Brasil, con quienes había perdido en la fase
de grupos.
Canadá fue comandado por Isaac Heslinga con 13 puntos, junto a Byron Keturakis y Logan
House con 9 puntos cada uno. El Brasileño Darlan Ferreira fue el máximo anotador del
parYdo con 24 puntos, además Victor Almeida agregó 11 puntos.
Los canadienses fueron mejores en bloqueo 8-3 y en puntos de servicio 4-1, mientras que
Brasil encabezó en puntos de ataque 59-52. Canadá comeYó un error no forzado menos
que Brasil (31-32).
Chile gana histórica medalla de bronce al venciendo a México en casa
Chile logró su primera medalla en Copa Panamericana al vencer a México 3-0 (25-22, 25-
27, 25-22) y quedarse el tercer lugar.
Fue un parYdo bastante igualado, con opciones para ambos equipos, pero fue Chile el que
logró ajustar en los cierre de los sets, para asegurar la medalla, a pesar de la presión del
público que llenó la Arena Astros de Guadalajara.
Chile tuvo pequeñas ventajas en ataque 39-37, 10-6 en bloqueo e igualaron 1-1 en puntos
directos de saque, con 27 puntos por errores comeYdos por México y 25 otorgados por
Chile.
Vicente Parraguirre, de Chile, siguió “encendido” al quedar con un total de 20 puntos,
todos en ataques, mientras Diego González, de México terminó con 17 puntos.
20. Estados Unidos derrota en sets corridos a Colombia por el quinto puesto
Estados Unidos superó sin problemas a Colombia 3-0 ((25-18, 25-20, 25-15) para quedarse
con el quinto lugar de la XVI Copa Panamericana Mayor Masculina de Voleibol.
Con ventaja 35-23 en ataque, 11-3 en bloqueo y 2-1 en puntos directos de saque, el
control del juego fue total para Estados Unidos, que comeYó 26 errores, por 27 de sus
contrarios.
Jacob Pasteur terminó con 18 puntos por los ganadores y Camden Gianni logró 10; por
Colombia Andrés Piza hizo seis puntos al igual que Gustavo Larrahondo. Al final del
parYdo, el equipo colombiano anunció el reYro del veterano Liberman Agamez, quien con
lágrimas en el rostro recibió el abrazo de sus compañeros, así como su úlYma camiseta

Canada wins its first Gold Medal in the Pan American Cup defea9ng Brazil
GUADALAJARA, Mexico, August 20, 2023 - Canada won its first Pan American gold medal
defeaYng Brazil 3-1 (26-24, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22) at the XVI Men’s Senior Pan American
Volleyball Cup that concluded this Sunday in Guadalajara.
In the history of Pan American Cup, Canada had lost the gold medal match in three
occasions (2008, 2009, 2022); in addiYon, they have three bronze medals. On this
occasion, Canada takes the gold medal over Brazil, having lost to them in pool-play.
Chile, meanwhile, took the bronze medal by beaYng Mexico 3-0 (25-22, 25-25, 25-2),
which represents its first medal in this tournament.
Canada was led by Isaac Heslinga with 13 points, along with Byron Keturakis and Logan
House with 9 points each. Brazilian Darlan Ferreira was the top scorer of the match with

USA defeats Colombia in straight sets for fiHh place
The United States dominated Colombia 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-15) to claim fimh place in the
XVI Men's Volleyball Pan American Cup.
With a 35-23 advantage in alacking, 11-3 in blocking and 2-1 in aces, the United States
had complete control of the game despite commipng 26 unforced errors.
Jacob Pasteur finished with 18 points for the winners and Camden Gianni had 10; For
Colombia Andres Piza made six points as well as Gustavo Larrahondo. At the end of the
match, the Colombian team announced the reYrement of veteran Liberman Agamez, who

juego por la medalla de oro anotó 14 puntos ante Brasil.
Brasil, segundo lugar del torneo, obtuvo tres premios individuales, Darlan Ferreira quedó
como Mejor Servicio y Mejor Opuesto y Matheus Silva fue el Mejor Acomodador.
México también obtuvo reconocimientos individuales, Axel Téllez fue el Segundo Mejor
Bloqueador, y el libero Hiram Bravo se llevó los premios a Mejor Libero y Mejor Defensa.
De Cuba, José Miguel GuYérrez fue reconocido como el Segundo Mejor Ataque y Alain
Gorguet el premio al Mejor Receptor.
Wilfrido Hernández de República Domininicana fue el Primer Mejor Ataque. De Perú,
Daniel Urueña fue el primer Mejor Bloqueo y Vicente Parraguirre de Chile fue el Máximo
Anotador del torneo.
22. Isaac Heslinga named MVP of the XVI Men’s Pan American Cup
GUADALAJARA, Mexico, August 20, 223 – Canada’s opposite hiler Isaac Heslinga was
named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the XVI Men’s Senior Pan American Volleyball
Cup for being one of the key players in leading his team to conquer the gold medal.
Heslinga was the top scorer for his team in almost every match of the tournament, and in
the gold medal match against Brazil, he scored 14 points.
Brazil, second place of the event, received three individual awards. Darlan Ferreira was
named Best Server and Best Opposite, while Matheus Silva was recognized as the Best
Seler.
Mexico also received three individual recogniYons. Axel Téllez was the Second Best
Blocker, and libero Hiram Bravo earned the awards for Best Libero and Best Defense.
From Cuba, José Miguel GuYérrez was awarded as the Second Best Alacker, and Alain
Gorguet received the award for Best Receiver.
Wilfrido Hernández from the Dominican Republic was the First Best Alacker. From Peru,
Daniel Urueña was recognized as the First Best Blocker, and Vicente Parraguirre from Chile
was the tournament’s Best Scorer.
