Scenario:
Jenny is a sales person at Copy Cats, a company who lease
photocopiers to a wide variety of organisations. She has been
talking to Kenny, who is looking lease a large number of
copiers to supply his office complex. Jenny is well aware that
Copy Cat’s pricing structure is not very competitive and
should Kenny do any research, he will soon discover this too.
What should Jenny do?
Jenny should call her boss and find out if she can lower the price for this sale alone. Incorrect
Jenny cannot do anything about the price, so she should just focus on creating a great presentation. Incorrect
Jenny should identify various factors that justify the price – including features and brand support. Correct
Jenny should just go ahead with the presentation – after all, Kenny may be willing to stump up. Incorrect
Feedback: If Copy Cat’s copiers are expensive, there must be a good reason for it. Jenny should know why
and if not, should find out and add the reasons why to her presentation. Kenny won’t necessarily want the
cheapest product on the market, but will want to make sure the price-tag is justified.
