The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was established in 2000 with the goal of improving global health and reducing extreme poverty. It has invested $10 billion over 10 years to research, develop, and deliver vaccines to developing countries. Some impacts of the foundation's work include enabling informed family planning, increasing agriculture productivity in Africa and Asia to reduce hunger, and reducing deaths from diseases like malaria and polio.

2. About Malaria
★ Malaria is a female mosquito-borne infectious disease.
★ Over the past few years, it has been a deadly epidemic that has taken many lives,
especially those in southern Africa, with deaths accounting to 1 million people in 2008.
★ This is due to the hot and usually dry climate in Africa, where droughts often happen,
with temperatures reaching 40 degrees celsius.
★ Majority of these deaths were children with an age of not above five. This is because
young children have not yet established any immunity against such a dangerous
disease.
3. Introduction to SE

few organisations have been set up to alleviate this issue, such as the Bill & Melinda
Gates Foundation.
