President Obama Campaigns for Governor Malloy in Bridgeport | FOX CT
BRIDGEPORT- The President of the United States came to Connecticut Sunday afternoon asking
voters to give Gov. Daniel Malloy another term.
The president was greeted by a faithful Democratic supporters who packed the Bridgeport Central
High School gym.
Sunday's appearance for the president follows a campaign rally also held in Bridgeport four years
ago.
In 2010, the Sunday before Malloy eked out a 6,400 vote margin victory over Republican Tom Foley.
Tuesday will be a rematch of that race, and polling again shows the candidates in a dead heat.
The President spoke in front of a capacity crowd of 1,800 as he joined Governor Malloy for the last
big push for re-election.
"I can't vote in Connecticut, but I'd tell you who I'd vote for. I'd want Dan Malloy leading us for
another four years," Obama said urging the crowd to vote on Tuesday.
The President and the governor remain allies on many issues like gun control, Medicaid expansion
and a higher minimum wage.
It was Governor Malloy who was the first governor to answer the President's call to raise the
minimum wage to $10.10/hour.
"While it has not always been easy and has not always been without sacrifice, there is progress here
in Connecticut to be proud of," Obama said
The President commended Malloy for enacting one of the toughest gun control laws in the nation.
Malloy thanked the president for standing by him, particularly during the dark days following the
killing of 20 children and six adults in Newtown two years ago.
"He cared about us and he urged us on," said Malloy,
Malloy won in 2010 by carrying the state's three biggest cities - Hartford, New Haven and
Bridgeport.
This election Gov. Malloy and Tom Foley have low favorablity ratings, some pollsters say this
election, voters will choose between the lesser of two evils.
The President emphasized the importance of voting in this election.

2. "Cynicism didn`t put a man on the money, cynicism has never won a war, cured a disease or built a
business or fed a young child. Cynicism is a choice, and hope is a better choice," Obama said.
The President's message left an impression
on many from Bridgeport, a city with a
large democratic base.
"I think he was so supportive of the
governor, talked about what he has done in
this state, people have to remember that,"
said Rosalind Friedman of Bridgeport.
"It brought everyone together, and it was
just a really great event," said Anthony Paoletto of Bridgeport.
