PM Vs PgM <ul><li>Project Manager </li></ul><ul><li>Is responsible — under general supervision — for all aspects of the project for the life of the project. </li></ul><ul><li>Leads and directs cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget and resources. </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrates knowledge and experience to appropriately apply a methodology to projects that have reasonably well-defined project requirements and deliverables. </li></ul><ul><li>Program Manager </li></ul><ul><li>Is responsible for the coordinated management of multiple related projects and ongoing operations directed toward a common objective. </li></ul><ul><li>Defines and initiates projects and assigns project managers to manage the cost, schedule and performance of component projects. </li></ul><ul><li>Directs project managers to monitor cost, schedule and technical performance of component projects and operations, while working to ensure the ultimate success of the program. </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrates sufficient knowledge and experience to make decisions that advance strategic objectives and make recommendations to modify programs to more effectively achieve these objectives. </li></ul>

  7. 7. <ul><li>Unlike other PMI credentials, you must pass a sequence of three evaluations to obtain the PgMP credential. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Evaluation 1 — Application Review: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Extensive application review during which a panel of program managers will perform a review of your professional project and program management experience. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Evaluation 2 — Multiple-Choice Examination: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Multiple-choice examination in which you will be called upon to demonstrate your ability to apply your knowledge to both situational and scenario-based questions. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Evaluation 3 — Multi-rater Assessment (MRA): </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>MRA is similar to a 360-degree review process. A team of raters that you select will assess your abilities to perform tasks that are pertinent to program management. </li></ul></ul></ul>PgMP Credentialing Process

Eligibility <ul><li>* Project Management Experience — as identified under the five process groups defined in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide). </li></ul><ul><li>** Program Management Experience — for each program listed, there must be at least two corresponding projects that share the common strategic goal and budget of the program. </li></ul>4 years 6,000 hours 4 years 6,000 hours Bachelors degree. Application Completeness Review <ul><li>Pre screening of the applications </li></ul><ul><li>Reviewed for completeness </li></ul><ul><li>May be returned back with comments </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Ex: </li></ul></ul>You must describe the strategy that drives the program; the strategic goal given to you to accomplish by the organization. (This does not include the organization strategic goal.) The strategy that drives the program must be actionable and should be measurable. If you were not directly assigned the strategic goal to accomplish for each program, you are not considered the program manager by PMI standard. Also, this should not include the overall strategic goal of the Organization. Please review your responses to the eight summary statements. While the panel will make the final decision on your responses, I recommend that you take this opportunity to ensure that your responses concur with the explanations on the attached document. These responses should show clearly your experience as a program manager.

Remember you are trying to impress this panel with just 8000 alphabets. </li></ul>
