An employee was laid off in March 2010 and has been on COBRA health insurance coverage since then as required for at least 18 months. However, last week the employee was informed that their former employer was bought by investors and that due to this change in ownership they will no longer offer former employees COBRA coverage, which may be an illegal termination of benefits.
