31st March, Current Affairs:
• President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the biggest River festival 'Namami Brahmaputra' in Guwahati.
• India becomes net exporter of Electricity for 1st time as India has exported around 5,798 Million Units to
Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar which is 213 Million units more than the import of around 5,585 Million
units from Bhutan.
• Kanha Tiger Reserve became the first tiger reserve in India to officially introduce a mascot named
Bhoorsingh the Barasingha.

• The Finance Bill 2017 has been approved by Parliament. Also four GST or Goods and Services Tax-related
bills passed by the Lok Sabha.
• Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli along with seven other sportspersons were awarded with the Padma
Shri award by President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
• The Supreme Court of India has banned the sale of any Bharat Stage III or BS III vehicles across India
with effect from April 1 2017.
