The DLSU Physics Department presents the different programs offered by the department - BS Pre-Med Physics, BS Physics with specialization in Medical Instrumentation, BS Physics with specialization in Material Science, BS Physics minor in Economics or Finance
PHYSICS Program Provides Multi-Disciplinary Training
1.
2.
3. committed to develop lifelong
learners, who are logical, analytical,
creative and critical thinkers
appreciative of God’s creation
envisions itself as an advocate of
effective educational practices in
Physics
The quest for nature’s fundamental
laws is accompanied by a concerted
search for relevant applications
benefiting Philippine society
4.
5.
6. is an 11-trimester program that brings together a full
BS Physics program enhanced with additional
courses in Applied Mathematics and
Economics/Finance
Provides multi-disciplinary training that combines the
best of physics, mathematics, and economics/finance
that would serve you well for careers in economic or
financial analysis.
7. Two types:
1. Those attempting to predict the stock market
2."quants" - Those who use quantitative methods to
assess and manage investment risks.
Uses Brownian motion to model price variations
Black-Scholes equation is used to calculate the value of
options in buying a stock in the future at a specified
price
8.
9. is an 11-trimester program
provides classic training of physicists which is known
to produce people who are highly skilled in
Mathematical Analysis and the technical know-how
for a career in the industry
Typically work in product engineering, quality
control, process engineering, and failure analysis
10. Bring advances in the following industries:
auto
aerospace
construction
manufacturing
electronics
computer
communications industries
Develop new or improved metals, plastics, ceramics,
semiconductors and composites
11. Work to increase the strength of steel,
toughen ceramics, lower the cost of
composites and make faster computer
circuits
Develop new materials for electronics,
biotechnology, and plastics products
Create and study materials at an atomic
level, using advanced processes to replicate
the characteristics of materials and their Shoulder Joint

12.
13. An 11-trimester program plus one
trimester Practicum that prepares
students for possible careers as
Medical Physicists
The program already includes a
substantial number of Chemistry and
Biology courses, it will take only a
few more subjects to enable you to
take the NMAT and proceed to
medical school, if you choose to
14.
15. A 9-trimester premed program
Offers a different perspective to preparation for
medical school by concentrating on the application
of physics in medicine
Technologically adept and oriented physicians.
16. Assure safe and effective delivery of radiation
Protection of patient & others from
excessive radiation
Establish protocols to ensure accurate patient
dosimetry
Measurement and characterization of radiation
Determination of delivered dose
17. Advancement of procedures to ensure image quality
Help develop improved imaging techniques (e.g.
mammography, CTscan, MRI, ultrasound)
Contribute to the development of therapeutic
techniques (e.g. protate implants, stereotactic
radiosurgery)
Collaborate with oncologists to design
treatment plans
Ensure cancer patients receive
prescribed dose of radiation to the
correct location
