Let’s Turn the Spotlight on a Very Popular Promotional Product—PensDave Burnett
Let’s start with the two most popular varieties—
ballpoint pens and rollerball pens. Then I’ll
address some other great options, like fountain
pens and felt‑tip pens.
Design as communication: on April 24th 2018, architect Paolo Bartoli from Bartoli Design was hosted by Terri Pecora in her workshop at NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano), to discuss about product design, art direction and the design profession at large.

Here is a sampling of architectural works from my portfolio. These projects were designed when I was a student at the Universities of Colorado and Minnesota. Take a look and enjoy.
Cork is a layer of water repellent bark tissue that is harvested for commercial use. It has a classic charm and a unique texture that makes it useful to make a wide range of products. From cork bottle lids to coasters, bags and more, we have a wide range of environment friendly cork promotional products.
Cork’s elasticity has made it perfect choice for bulletin boards in schools, homes and offices. Interior designers are experimenting with cork wall paneling ,ceiling highlights and more to create a vintage look to the spaces. Cork is a hot choice in personal fashion as well and is getting featured in bags and wallets because it is moisture resistant features.
I had the pleasure recently of being invited to judge the Packaging Category at this year’s D&AD Awards. There were seven of us in total on the judging panel, some of whom had flown in from the US and Japan to participate.
We had over 200 entries to judge on the day, some of which provoked great debate and discussion amongst the judging team! It was a fantastic opportunity to see what has been happening across the world with packaging design and innovation over the last year. The standard was incredibly high...
The following pages capture some of the key trends happening, the judging process, my thoughts and overall observations of the day.
Some food for thought. Enjoy. Sam
