Evaluation task 7-Progression from my
preliminary task
• I feel I have learnt a lot from the beginning of the
school year by completing my preliminary task. In this
task we needed to film techniques new to us such as
180 degree rule, match on action and reverse shot. To
do this I filmed someone opening a door and having a
conversation with another person. In my film opening
we used various shots and transitions and I have
developed my skills from my first preliminary task.
• Match on action
• On my film opening, I filmed her coming into the
magazine office from the back and then again with her
coming in from the front.
Two shot
I have done a two shot in both my preliminary
task and my film opening.
In my film opening I used a two
shot showing the protagonist and
the magazine editor. This time I
framed the shot much better!
Close ups
I did this in my film opening
when Mollie opens the
confidential letter and it
zooms in on her face to see
the expression on her face.
I could have used a close up
to improve my preliminary
task.
Establishing shot
I used an
establishing shot to
show the setting at
the beginning of
the clip.
Tilt up shot
This was used to
show the
protagonists
clothing. Starting
from her shoes and
leading up to her
coat.
Over the shoulder
shot
We decided to use an over the shoulder
shot as the reader can clearly see what
the actor is reading from her point of
view. You can also see her pull out the
confidential slip which you wouldn’t be
able to see from a different camera
angle.
Panning shot
The panning shot is shown well. I
had to keep the camera steady when
filming Mollie as she running.
Although it was relatively easy I had
to make sure that I couldn’t see
Chaya who was also filming on
another camera across the road.
Panning shot on preliminary task
On my preliminary task I did
a panning shot of when the
actor walked out of the
classroom. I have improved
this on the film opening as it
doesn’t show the back of her
when she is running.
This is a shot reverse shot
from my preliminary task. I
did not use the space well
and I can see that I should
have used a close up here
and made more use of the
space.
