BOOKS
1. BOOKS
1 - Sabores contados – A gastronomia tradicional do Entre Douro e
Minho (Book, 2015). This is a book with 84 recipes of traditional food
from the North of Portugal. I’ve planned all the book with a structure
that reflect the connection between food habits and agriculture. I have
done the research, and I also done some interviews to old people.
Afterward I wrote the text, and I worked closely with the Designer to
develop all the design concept according to the idea to present a book
with old gastronomic recipes but with a very fresh, clean and modern
design. Also, I worked with the Photographer and I done the pre-
production of each photo.
2 – Raças Autóctones Portuguesas (Book, 2013). This is a book that is
made each 50 years, by the Veterinarian Public Services from Ministry of
Agriculture of Portugal. The proposal of the book is to present all the
Portuguese autochthones breeds (horses, pigs, dogs, chickens, cows,
sheep and goats). In that book, I used the material collected from breeds
associations, and I (re)wrote the text, organizing and standardizing the
information.
3 – 4 Batidas, o Património Garrano – 4 Beats (Book, 2011): This book
tells the story of Garrano, an autochthone wild breed of horses who lives
in the mountains of Gerês (Portugal). This book presents several texts
made by different personalities (including the President of the Portuguese
Republic), and my work was to do the interface with all participants,
organize the texts, and work very closely with the Designer, in the way
that he could develop all the material according to morphology and
temperamental characteristics of this breed. Concerning the Garrano
horse breed, I was also responsible for maintain the site
www.garrano.ipvc.pt, and I took part of the team that organized the 1st
International Congress of Garrano
horse.
2. 4 – Arroz de Sarrabulho de Ponte de Lima – A gastronomia da tradição - The
gastronomy of Tradition (Book, 2011). This was the first book I have worked
on. This was the subject of my master thesis, and I have done all the
research. The book was supported and edited by City Council of Ponte de
Lima (Portugal), also responsible for the design. This is a book to support the
certification of this gastronomic dish (Arroz de Sarrabulho) by European
Union as a Traditional Food Product.
Recently, and still in the printing stage, I wrote the text of the book Lamb of Monção - Cordeiro à moda
de Monção. Lamb of Monção is also a traditional gastronomic dish, and the book had two versions: an
adult version and a child version. To develop this last one, I done some research in how to write for young
people – 7 to 9 years old - because that was the first time I wrote to that public. In those books, I didn't
done the research of material, I worked with the research made by a colleague. The proposal of the book
was to support the application to European Union to certificate Lamb of Monção as a Traditional Food
Product.
My very last work in that area was Celeiro do Minho (in edition stage). This is a little book that present old
recipes made with corn, and also some old traditions linked to corn agriculture in a specific region of
Portugal (Paredes de Coura). In that book I only wrote the text.
